ATLANTA—Shen Yun Performing Arts’ award-winning vocalists were dubbed “God’s gifts” by a very appreciative spectator at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Taking in the “fabulous” digitally-enhanced backdrop, Kelly Makuta, a systems engineer said, “The opera and the tenor singer tonight ... the voices were incredible, just incredible. I mean those are god’s gifts, absolutely incredible gifts to the people. Incredible!”

She was given a ticket to see the world-premiere classical Chinese dance and music show as a birthday present from her daughter.

“The costumes and the energy that these people put into this is absolutely incredible,” she reiterated. “It makes you want to float on a cloud a lot of times and I am watching them and it is like they are floating on stage … I loved it!

Her daughter, who works in the health field, bought tickets for them both. “The momentum and the power that they [the artists] have behind them and everything, it is just absolutely beautiful.”

She was prompted to see the New York-based show by a passion both women shared for the arts.

“Just from knowing her and how passionate in the arts she is—so am I—and how beautiful it is and when I saw the chance I just knew this happened to be on the perfect day.”

And from her mum’s response, she had made the “perfect” choice.

"I love any kind of music ... mostly classical and many other songs," Ms. Makuta said. "I do some art work myself, and I always dance and told her how to dance. It is wonderful; she doesn’t dance like I told her," she laughed.

"I just dance, my brother [taught] me ballroom dance, I was like eight years old, my brother is sixteen years older, so he told me how to dance. I dance all my life."
